Appeal for donations for our native squirrels
What they may not know yet.
Our native squirrels need your help. The summers have been very dry in recent years. Everyone has seen and heard it on the news. Many trees died, reservoirs were almost empty. Walnut trees, hazelnut trees carried as few nuts as they had not carried for years and most of them were hollow or dried out. Through rain and storms are becoming more and more frequent to climate change. Through all these sad facts, our native squirrels cannot find enough food anymore and get more and more often in need. Now in spring the time begins when the squirrels get their young and the fight for survival begins. Not enough that many squirrel babies and their mothers fall victim to their predators. About 80% of all young animals die within the first six mounth. So, many do not survive and the population continues to decline. Just now in spring many little squirrels lose their homes through the storms and tree felling. The squirrels fall to the ground as a result of these events and many squirrels are injured. Injured and undercooled squirrels are no longer taken by their mother or wither and get into distress.
They are often still too small to manage on their own. It is no longer matter of natural selection.
Therefor help is important now. To help the squirrels, which are very important for our ecosystem, the association Circle of friends squirrels would be founded.
We support rescue stations and foster homes that lovingly nurture these squirrels in need day and night so that they can be released into wild again later.
This work is very expensive for these dear people. Rearing milk, food, veterinaryy costs, aviaries, but unfortunately is not subsidized by the state, because they are wild animals.
Support us in saving and preserving these small rodents, which by burying and forgetting the collected seeds and nuts help with ensuring that new trees grow that we all need for a healthy climate.
Surely it pleases them and their children, just like us, when they see these cute forest dwellers climbing and jumping around in the trees.
So that the rescue stations and foster homes can continue to care for the squirrel babies in need, we ask for your help and your donation. without donations we cannot support and the rescue stations cannot bear the costs for the rearing and release of the babies alone. So, every donation helps.
